Prenatally
I believe the preparation for the journey is where the magic happens. this doesn’t mean that with planning, there are never detours. what it does mean is by learning about your options, figuring out your preferences and preparing your mindset, you and your partner will gain the confidence necessary for what is to come. whether that is being aware of hospital policies, configuring a birth team that feels right for you, or simply learning about tools to help with coping in labor - the preparation is key.
Birth
when labor begins, the plan we prepared together prenatally starts to come to fruition. either at your home or once we meet at the hospital, i will support you and your partner through labor by making sure your birth preferences are known by your providers, reminding you of what might be happening in your body in certain stages, and remaining a steady presence while utilizing physical coping tools, position change suggestions and other hands on support we discuss prior. this allows you and your partner to really tune into each other, and you to your baby.
postpartum
i will remain a steady presence immediately after birth while things settle. i’ll provide resources and references in general, as well as specific suggestions depending on what is needed or what you want! we will have a postpartum visit up to 10 days after birth for processing, further questions and addressing any concerns.
