What if you aren’t able to make my birth?

My worst nightmare! But, I am confident that the preparation we do together prior to labor will benefit you greatly by helping you to understand the process, learn coping tools and also set your partner up with knowledge to be able to fully support you with confidence.

I will always have a back-up doula arranged in advance in the case I am unable to attend your birth. If for some reason neither me nor my backup is available to support you, my refund policy can be discussed in our consultation.

Can’t I just take a birth class?

Please take a birth class!

An evidence based, all encapsulating birth class is priceless and there are plenty in the area that are available.

While beneficial, it simply cannot replicate the support a doula provides. Studies show that having a doula decreases the overall cesarean rate by 50%, the length of labor by 25%, the use of oxytocin by 40%, and requests for an epidural by 60%.

I live in Southern Colorado, are you able to support my birth?

I’d love to be a travlin’ doula one day, but in this season of life I only attend births in Longmont, Erie, Lafayette, Louisville, Superior, Broomfield, Boulder, Firestone, Frederick, Loveland, Berthoud, Fort Collins and the general Front Range area of Northern Colorado ~ Boulder County, Weld County, Larimer County and Adams County. That list mostly covers it!

Will my partner still be involved if I have a doula?

My intention from day one is to center not only you, but also your baby and your partner in this experience.

From our consultation, to our prenatal visits and all the way through our last postpartum visit.. I want your partner there, fully present and ready to walk this path with you. I am there to answer questions, provide information and offer physical support, but it is always you and your partner at the center.

I already have a midwife, should I hire a doula?

Your midwife is a medical professional that has an entirely different role than that of your doula. While your midwife provides medical care during pregnancy and labor, your doula provides continuous emotional, educational and physical support throughout pregnancy and birth and does not perform medical tasks. Your doula is dedicated to you while your midwife may or may not be providing care to other patients and not available for continuous support.

Do you take insurance?

I currently do not take insurance. Once I am finished with my certification process through Child Birth International, I will be able to take insurance.
